Things I’ve Actually Googled at 2AM as a Mom in Business
Jul 22, 2025
Because insomnia, existential dread, and business planning love to hang out.
Let me really quickly set the scene:
It’s approximately 2:07 AM.
I’m under a blanket, phone brightness on low, trying not to wake my husband or my youngest child—who is 7, but still often third chair in the overnight orchestra that is my bedtime reality…
…and somehow I’ve spiraled from “I need to order more labels” to
“What if my entire business is absolutely pointless?...
Should I open a coffee truck instead?
And also, not for nothing, but what am I even doing with my life?”
Sound familiar?
Welcome to the late-night scroll spiral… mom in business edition. 💙
Real Things I’ve Actually Googled in the Dark
While balancing ambition, anxiety, and a lukewarm La Croix:
1. “How to make passive income without talking to people”
Because sometimes I want financial freedom... but make it introvert-friendly.
Pro tip: the answers were write a book, sell a digital product, or become the next big Etsy mogul.
2. “Best planner for moms who forget they bought another planner”
At this point, I own enough planners to open a small boutique.
Do I use them? Sometimes.
But more importantly—I believe in their potential to change my life, which feels like growth.
3. “Can I run a business from Canva and vibes alone?”
Follow-up: Canva Pro hacks for moms who don't have time (or desire) to outsource.
Additional follow-up: “What even is brand consistency?? Like the real definition.”
4. “Do I really need a niche or can I just be the main character?”
My logical brain knows the importance of niching, you guys…
I just emotionally reject it at 2AM when I feel called to coach, create, and sell embroidery kits.
Also, what if my niche is other moms Googling at 2AM?
5. “How long can a child thrive on mac & cheese?”
I said thrive.
Also, I added frozen peas. That counts as a vegetable and a wild success, as far as I’m concerned.
6. “How to not look so tired on Zoom”
Answer: Bold of you to assume that’s even possible.
You’ve got 2 hours of sleep, 17 open tabs, and a 9-year-old narrating a Minecraft build in the background.
You are the filter now.
7. “How to relaunch your business after ghosting your audience for what feels like 3 months”
The answer: Softly. Like a rebrand whispered into the void.
Or better yet—at a WMSA event where no one asks,
“Where have you been?”
Because they already know. (Life. Kids. Summer.)
Why am I telling you this?
Because this is what building a business actually looks like sometimes.
It’s not all color-coded systems and 5-figure months.
It’s Google searches fueled by caffeine, curiosity, and a quiet little hope that maybe—just maybe—we can do this.
If you’ve ever questioned everything and still showed up the next day?
You’re not behind. You’re building.
So let’s please normalize…
💙 Drafting launch plans in the Notes app while hiding in the bathroom
💙 Learning in motion—not perfection
💙 Visibility that ebbs and flows (because kids get sick, and creativity comes in waves)
Let’s normalize the messy middle.
Because no one’s business plan included Goldfish crackers, tantrums, or rebranding mid-chaos…
And yet—here we are.
Still building.
Still dreaming.
Still Googling.
And that, my friend?
Is very serious business.
